This Christmas we are working with Cotmanhay Community Trust and Parkside High to collect and distribute presents to the brilliant children and young people across the local area.
As part of this, on Saturday, December 5th we held our own collection which was a great success. We’d like to thank all our supporters who came to the NMG to drop off presents. A very special thank you and well done goes to our junior section who went above and beyond for our toy appeal and brought a vast amount of presents for our young people.
Ilkeston Town owner and chairman Mark Clifford said: “This is a great initiative for an even better cause. This year has been horrendous for obvious reasons but it’s great for us as a club to work in the community alongside some great projects in Parkside High and Cotmanhay Community Trust with people that are truly committed to making a difference to those they support.
“One of the key parts of our club’s future development is about working alongside Ilkeston Town Juniors who have been active for many years in the community and we are so proud of the effort they made to support local projects and people. They have a fantastic committee and led by Mark Frost as the chairman I feel this is just the beginning of our partnership in supporting local initiatives.”
Mark Frost added: “I think it’s fair to say that 2020 has been a year to forget and Christmas this year will be very different, but for some people within our community Christmas will be another day without the festive cheer and raised spirits.
“When I found out about this amazing community toy collection, I couldn’t wait to share it with all our junior players, parents and supporters. I have been personally overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of our members. Ilkeston has amazing family values with Ilkeston Town FC its biggest community asset.”
Over the past few weeks, our academy students have helped with the sorting of presents at the Cotmanhay Community Network as well as helping with the delivering of food parcels.
If you missed our collection on Saturday, don’t worry. You can still get involved ahead of the big drop on December 12th at Parkside High this coming Friday, between 9am and 3pm. The following information for Parkside High is:
