The Robins are back at the Microlise New Manor Ground on Saturday as they welcome a strong Barwell FC side for their latest pre-season test ahead of the new campaign.
Following Tuesday night’s 4-2 victory away at Clipstone FC, Tris Whitman’s side return home looking to build on another positive performance as they continue to develop both fitness and their style of play.
Saturday’s visitors will provide a different kind of challenge. Barwell spent the last 16 seasons competing at Step 3 before their relegation from the Southern League Premier Central last season. They now prepare for life in the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands, making this another valuable test for the Robins.
The fixture gives Ilkeston another opportunity to continue implementing the patterns of play and principles that the coaching staff have been working hard on throughout pre-season, with the opening league fixture against Stockton Town on Saturday 8th August now drawing ever closer.
