A second half double over Prescot Cables secured the Robins’ first home victory of the 2025/26 season at the Microlise New Manor Ground.
After a competitive opening half, the Robins had the best chance to take the lead in the 40th minute through Connor Dixon. The midfielder’s low driven effort from the edge of the area fizzed just past Calvin Hare and onto his far post, meaning both sides went in even at the break.
It wasn’t until mid-way through the second half that the Robins eventually took the lead on home soil. L’Varn Brandy weaved past one defender before arrowing an effort from the edge of the area into the top right corner, leaving Hare static between the sticks.
One then became two in quick succession, as a late challenge brought Dylan Youmbi down in the box – the winger then carried the ball to the penalty spot and calmly tucked away the spot kick, sending the Prescot shot-stopper the wrong way.
A constant press in the final 20 minutes put the visitors on the back foot, but no goals could subsequently be added as the referee blew for full-time in Ilkeston.
