It wasn’t to be in the FA Cup for the Robins, as we fell to a 3-1 defeat away to Leamington on Saturday afternoon.
Two first half goals gave Tris Whitman’s men a mountain to climb, although they did manage to pull one back before the break through Anthony Dwyer.
But despite pressure from Ilkeston, the Brakes ultimately sealed the victory with a third just after the hour mark.
It only took six minutes for the hosts to break the deadlock, as Cameron Eubank fired a powerful effort past Sam Wilson from 20 yards out.
The advantage was doubled just two minutes later, as Louie Rea slammed home an effort from close range.
Ilkeston looked to immediately fire back, but L’Varn Brandy’s header was cleared off the line following an Ash Hunter delivery.
Hunter was involved again just five minutes later, as his effort forced a great save from Cian Tyler after being played in by Dwyer.
The deficit was reduced by Dwyer with 6 minutes remaining of the opening period, as Pharrell Johnson excellently controlled a Hunter free-kick, before the former set it down for Dwyer who converted.
The opening minutes of the second half were scrappy, as neither side were able to get a grip on proceedings.
But just after the hour mark, it would be Chris Wreh who would restore Leamington’s two goal advantage, as he guided his effort past Wilson.
Wilson did well to prevent the hosts from adding a fourth 10 minutes from time, as he had to tip over a powerful strike from Kyle Belmonte.
Following the goal, Ilkeston were never able to trouble the opposition goal as they fell to defeat in Warwickshire.
