We are delighted to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Theo Avery, subject to NPL and FA approval.

Avery becomes the latest addition to Tris Whitman’s squad after impressing throughout pre-season, adding further competition between the sticks ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The young goalkeeper enjoyed an excellent youth career with Nottingham Forest and Mansfield Town before spending a season with Northampton Town. He has also gained valuable first-team experience during a spell with Corby Town.

Manager Tris Whitman believes Avery has all the attributes to fit the way the Robins want to play.

“Theo joins the squad as a goalkeeper. He is someone who has had an excellent youth career at Forest and Mansfield before moving to Northampton last season.

“Theo possesses both handling ability and the quality to play with his feet, which we feel is important to how we want to play this season.”

Speaking after completing the move, Avery said:

“Buzzing to be here. I like what Tris and Largey are doing with the club and I’m looking forward to getting going.”

Everyone at Ilkeston Town would like to welcome Theo to the Microlise New Manor Ground and wish him every success at the Microlise New Manor Ground.
