Ilkeston Town Football club are pleased to announce the signing of Robbie Fox.
The 23-year-old centre forward joins the Robins after a season with National League North side Farsley Celtic and a spell with Silsden AFC, where his goals helped seal the Northern Counties East League Premier Division title.
Arriving at the Microlise New Manor Ground Fox said: “I can’t wait to get going, buzzing to get started. I’ve had a look around and I’m buzzing with the place, great facilities.”
Looking ahead to the coming season, Fox added: “[I want to] take on board my season at step two and just enjoy my football again.”
Delighted with his new signing, Ian Deakin said: “Robbie’s been quite sought-after in pre-season and last year, to be fair, before his move to Farsley.
“He’s somebody that I’ve watched numerous times and you know I’ve been quite an advocate, admiring from afar since his time at Albion Sports.
“Young, hungry, the fans will see what he is about. He’s a little bit of the Jamie Vardy-esque kind of striker, a bit of a glint in his eye. He plays on the edge and that’s what we like.”
Deakin highlighted the striker’s impressive goal tally and took particular notice of his time at NCEL side Albion Sports where Fox scored 50 goals in 105 appearances.
“I think his goal record speaks for itself,” Deakin said: “it’s basically one in two since he has been playing men’s football. But he has the pedigree of being a Bradford City academy player behind him and Guiseley as well.”
“We had to fight off a lot of competition from other clubs higher up the pyramid, in this league, and at this step – so we are extremely excited to have him on board and hopefully he hits the ground running.”
