When asked for his thoughts ahead of the announcement, Ian Deakin said:

‘I’m really delighted with our recruitment so far, with Connor and Mitchell coming into the squad.

“We wanted to keep the existing squad together as much as possible, I felt that they really gelled the last half of the season and put on some really good performances.

“I’m happy to retain our players, our younger players have done really well and have fend off interest from clubs higher up in the pyramid and football league.

“We have brought some players in, but we’re not done with recruitment yet, we are still in talks with some players.

“We want healthy competition within the squad, it’ll help the players strive to be the best they can be every week and that’s important moving forward.

“Unfortunately some players have departed, I want to wish them the very best for the future, they’ve always got me as someone to ask for advice from, the door is never closed. Their efforts have been superb since they came in and I’m sure they’ll succeed wherever they go in the future, it’s the horrible part of football sometimes.

“I’m excited to get back in with the players, we feel as a management team that we have a really strong group of players, a young group with a little more experience in the mix that will help us in those moments where you’re under pressure, in hostile environments and moving forward they’ll continue to grow.”
